Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” -Helen Keller

This quote is what I am attempting to avoid. I’ve been feeling really down lately and I’m not quite sure why. Whether it’s because I graduate in 51 days or I’m overwhelmed with school work, pre-institue work or working my two jobs (I sell makeup at Clinique and work with old folks at a non-profit)…one thing I do know is that I cannot continue to dwell and feel so low. Yesterday I went for a 6 mile walk to the lake, down the lakefront and then back to my apartment. It was absolutely beautiful!! I am so glad it is warm enough to get outdoors and enjoy the last few weeks I have in Chicago.

My spring break starts tomorrow after I take an exam at 6 pm. I am SO ready for a break. My plans for Spring Break unfortunately got a little screwed up, so I will be going home for the week. On Monday I’m planning to go over to Indy to observe a TFA math teacher’s classroom and I am SO excited!! I think it’s going to be really cool to meet a current TFA corps member in Indy as well as see what I’m going to be doing next year.

Unfortunately, my last day before spring break includes 2 exams. So I’ll be spending my Saint Patrick’s day evening studying away! Hope everyone has a safe and fun Saint Pattys! =)
