Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap
Mar 22 2011

Text message conversation with one of my most dedicated students (my message is in green). He retook the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). He originally scored a 4.7 (4th grade level) in math in December when he began our program. His math TABE was a 7.8 today!! He puts in so much time and so much effort. It’s so great to see a student who puts forth the effort, and sees the results! He is SO close to be being at grade level, a 9.0.

It’s text messages and moments like these that make all the hard work worth it. :) I can’t wait to see this student tomorrow and make a huge deal out his score (he told his life coach to be sure to tell me because he knew how excited I’d get… I’m kind of a crazy cheerleader for my students). GREAT day. :)
